How To Set Up Voicemail On Nexus 4
-
I've searched for this and have not found a clear answer.
I'one thousand wondering how voice postal service works on the N4. Do yous have to call in and go through a organization of menus to access voice mail? OR does it permit you to pull upwardly a list of your letters, and play through them in any order? This is what I consider to exist "visual voice mail" similar you run across on the iPhone. Does the N4 take this or is there an app that can allow voice mail to function in this style?
Note that many people consider "visual vocalization postal service" to be something that transcribes the vocalization mail in to text (eastward.yard. Google Voice) or shows you a picture of the person who left a bulletin. I am not looking for this, I'm simply interested in being able to access voice mail like to how I currently practice on the iPhone.
If information technology is carrier dependent, or makes any deviation, I am currently with AT&T but will be trying T-Mobile prepaid when my phone arrives.
Thanks!

Practiced to know. The idea of dialing into voicemail and having to cull from a menus ("Printing 1 to hear new messages, press ii to alter your greeting......") seems ridiculously blowsy. Took a quick look at the play store yesterday and noticed T-Mobile has a visual voice mail app, and there are a couple other options.

No, Google Voice is not a VOIP service. It is a telephone call forwarding service. You can have Google Vocalization handle your phonation mail to your cell phone. Yet, for that to work, your carrier must support conditional call forwarding. Someone can correct me if I am incorrect, but I think most, if non all, pre-paid plans do non include conditional telephone call forwarding. If y'all are post paid y'all should be practiced to become.

I use Google Voice with my T-mobile account. I just go into my telephone settings and under Voicemail Service I take two options: "My Carrier" or "Google Vocalism". I check Google Voice and because my phone recognizes my Google account, it merely works. It likewise forwards the vocalism mail messages to my Gmail account, then I tin access them in that location, too. I retrieve the Google Vocalism solution is the best solution I've seen.
One matter I like is there is an option on Google Voice to display messages in the phone call log. I don't like that considering it clutters upward the phone phone call log. I tin see who called, but when yous run across the transcribed message, it clutters up the call log. By unchecking this, you can check your voice mails past opening touching the Google Phonation icon. This shows you just your letters, without mixing them with your inbound/outbound/missed calls log.

As others have pointed out you can either utilise Google Vocalization or the T Mobile visual voicemail app instead of dialing into voicemail the old school fashion. Having used both I actually prefer quondam schoolhouse.

I am on the T-mobile value programme. With google vocalism, you tin can read the transcribed voice postal service, or merely click play and heed to it just similar you would with dialing in. I don't like dialing in, and I like reading the transcriptions and choosing which ones I want to listen to. The "sometime school" method of dialing in ways I accept to heed to all of my phonation mails.

Using Google Voice equally a voicemail service requires that your carrier supports conditional call forwarding... You'll need to search to come across if straight talk supports it or non.

I am on AT&T and I noticed that there was no voicemail indicator for me and I could not figure out how to get it going.
I ended up using the google voice option and now I have a voicemail indicator and I can play my voicemail from the call log. This is every bit close equally I could get to what I was used to when I had my iPhone.

I recall you need to disable the google voice app on your phone until you have activatd the phone with the phone number they tell you to input. That's what happened with me, anyway.
Y'all can use your phone number for people to telephone call (google lite) or people will need to start calling your google number (full google voice services).
It can be disruptive, but once set up works dandy.

Thanks. I did as mentioned and that Google Voice app seemed to setup with no problem. And for proficient measure I did the *004* phone call forwarding anyways (with only 1 * in the showtime... I missed the part you said two **) and it said information technology forwarded successfully. Just haven't had anyone phone call me to cease testing. Will update the results. Thanks again.
